Dear Daniel:

How many times did it take you to hit a fly at 1 meter? the average is less than 1 in 10 tries and that is for a tried and true system that eventually will squash that fly. How many free throw attempts did it take you until you got 3 out of every 17 times from the first time you attempted a basket from the free throw line? I bet it was far more than 1000 times before you got good enough that half of the shots were good. Some pros have attempted a million free throws to up their average to the upper eighties in percent. And you have the audacity to claim that 3 out of only 17 tries is proof that the eventual success rate will always be less than 17%? We need more tests to build up enough experience in the system to weed out bugs in the design.

Heck Edison tried over 10,000 different materials before he found one that worked for his light bulbs. Tungsten was rejected because of its unmanfacturability at that time. Now it is used in almost all light bulbs. Cutting edge development is piled high with failures. You need them to get rid of design, manufacturing, and software flaws. Most of the learning on how to do things right depends on tests that went wrong, sometimes spectacularly.

You go on believing that it is easy to do cutting edge development. You will have a rude awakening when you get to do it. Besides a few hundred billion in failed social experiments is no better. Many such liberal programs made the problems even worse than if left alone. Lets talk about waste in those first since they waste far more money. And that does not take into account the biggest accured debt in government today (SS).
