I agree with that as long as your expectations are low, your horizon is long and you didn't concentrate your holdings in speculative stocks.

I think you're right. To a large extent, I think everyone has to learn about that risk for him/herself. This big crunch in the tech market (especially the severity of the price drops for many newer companies with high expectations and low current revenues or earnings) has taught many people some lessons that will help them (us) for a long time. I'm happy now that my biggest holdings have always been with companies making good money and growing. Those companies are obviously the easiest to hold without fear of the companies disappearing in a difficult economy.

So why do I still have my (small) position in AMZN?!
