I am so glad you posted this on Rambi- I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. I am going to bring it to the attention of all the teachers at my school. I bet quite a few of them will think it is a worthy project to get involved in.

Rambi,

So much of our charitable giving is worthy, but faceless and general, small donations sent into the ether never to be heard from again. How much more rewarding to give to a cause that has not only the faces of children on it, but the faces of all our friends here at SI giving together to that specific cause and perhaps to eventually see the result!

How true. With this project, letters will be posted by the schoolchildren and there will be no doubt as to what happened with the money. Your personal story with your son hits home, since many times I have given to charities in the past I felt good, but I was always curious where the money eventually wound up. I guess chairty is similar to religion, you need to take a leap of faith. With this cause however, hopefully that leap is somewhat smaller since you will be able to read about the difference your donation has helped make.

. I think I'll feel much better about this investment than most of my others in 2000.

ROTFL. I can identify with this all to well also.....unfortunately.

I have taken the liberty of posting the site on my thread, (feeling sure that you won't mind at all).

This project necessitates as many SIers spreading the word as possible.

Happy New Millenium to All.

Regards,

Brian

Oh, Rambi, I just noticed that you had already posted about this thread on Don't Ask Rambi. But am I sorry for the repetition?

Oh, yes.

I must apologize. Later I may find it necessary to apologize again.

Does everyone realize the more we chat here the closer we get to the hot list?

I read a piece in the NYT about a couple of Chinese companies selling apology services. They're doing very well, apparently. The Chinese have trouble making personal apologies, as I understood it.

I would like to make it known that anyone who wants me to apologize to any other SI member for them need only ask on this thread. I will render the apology here, send it to them via PM, and post their reply here.

It's best not to let these things fester.

Out with it, miscreants. To whom do you want me to apologize? I'm sure they deserve it, you bastards, you.

Rambi, I am SO sorry if the implication was that you yourself had anything to apologize and were a miscreant or bastard! I can see that my words, in context, might have been misconstrued! I apologize for any misunderstanding. I will go drink something noxious now as a penance, or turn down the thermostat.
