All,

Here's something I just picked up from the "Swingtrader" thread and I thought it appropriate for us. This is from Alan Farley (Trader Alan, and the operator of The Hard Right Edge site):

"One clarification is important. That is understanding the difference between a bottom feeder and a value investor. Bottom feeders lose money in bear markets while value investors can make a fortune. Bottom feeders accelerate market declines by undermining legitimate buying power. Value investors help create sustainable bottoms through their understanding of the fundamentals and their endless patience."

Makes sense to me right now.

Ken, it was my best trading year, but like you I also got clobbered in my IRA's and mutuals. I'm in a junk bond fund (use it as a kind of "savings account") that is at a 5-year low! Fortunately, I read last night that Buffet is now buying junk bonds, so hopefully I will see better times there.

PS: and to make matters worse, one of my large-cap growth funds dumped a huge capital gains on me on the 29th! Did any of yours do that?
