Well, I have a place near the Mayor's, a very nice place. Sometimes we go there (it's been a while now since my wife has been pregnant and we've just had a child) and stay for a few days. Last time was tops. We got there Friday evening and the next thing we knew it was Sunday morning! We visited museums the rest of that day. It was quite excellent. But we aren't exactly interested in living right in the city while we have young children.

You are quite right. There is action in the city. And if you live outside, you tend to turn into something of a fogey. I can identify with your friends. Getting into town seems such a drudgery. But once you get there... whew... life happens.
