An Sat posting had an excerpt from this weeks energy article in Barron's and mentioned Jordan-Simmons Global Energy Fund. Just wanted to make it clear to those who have not read the article that Simmons is our favorite oil guru, Matt Simmons, and he is teaming up with a very successful hedge-fund operator in Boston. Doesn't appear to be available yet as I can find nothing from searching for it.

An Interview With Gerald Jordan ~ The world is full of money managers, but this guy is a money maker. Jerry Jordan is a man who has been taking big bets and making big money for his clients for some 30-plus years. Consistently. First as a star manager of the Putnam Voyager and Vista funds in the late 'Sixties and, since 1978, as a principal with Boston-based Hellman Jordan Management. The firm was sold to United Asset Management in 1984 (a way to cash out former partner Warren Hellman, now of the San Francisco-based private equity firm Hellman & Friedman), but was bought back by Jordan a few months ago, following the sale of UAM.

Through it all, Jordan rarely missed a beat. His biggest sin in 1999 was folding his tech hand too soon. But that paid off in 2000 as the four partnerships he runs -- with $1.4 billion in assets -- ended up with gains in high double-digit territory. Now he has teamed with a chum from Harvard Business School, Matt Simmons, of energy banker Simmons & Co., and launched the $40 million Jordan-Simmons Global Energy fund.
