jackmore - I agree with you but what is all this edge news from the UWCC site:-

Bellevue, WA, November 16, 2000 - The Universal Wireless Communications Consortium (UWCC) announced today, by the end of the third Quarter of 2000, there were 53.5 million TDMA-EDGE subscribers worldwide. This represents a 78% increase in worldwide customers in the past 12 months. “Subscribers continue to choose TDMA-EDGE,” stated Sheila Mickool, President & CEO of the UWCC. Mickool added, “The continuous global growth of TDMA-EDGE technology positions it well to provide future 3G wireless data services to the mass market.”

The most widely used wireless technology in Latin America & the Caribbean region continues to be TDMA-EDGE with 24.1 million subscribers, representing a 121% increase year over year. Chris Pearson, Executive Vice President of the UWCC, stated, “Latin America continues to be the fastest growing market for TDMA-EDGE wireless technology.” Additionally, TDMA-EDGE continues to be the leading technology in North America where it recorded 27.3 million subscribers, representing a 61% increase over third quarter of 1999.</I.

Best regards,

L

"These folks go on shamelessly about Q hype even though only Q consistently delivers on performance promises "
Yes indeed, and as the T and the NOK continue to spout soothing words to prevent the Herd from stampeding to the new technology (*available Now*), pretty much all depends on the smooth rollout in May by NTT. What, pray tell, will pay the interest on $100 billion ++ for those licenses? Soothing words? Money talks, B.S. walks. Delays will not be forgiven by the bankers, and thus will not be forgiven by the service providers either.

I begin to see a different stroke of gamesmanship with Q! heading towards the 1Xevdv protocol. Everyone gets a single standard, the true grail of wireless. The manufacturers, the SPs, the Consumers. China gets a leg up by manufacturing early on with *available Now* technology, transferring all the expertise over to producing the single standard in several years down the road, and the wCDMA proponents suck wind (except and maybe not, NTT)because they are not in-gear producing anything. No wonder T is spitting venom; they are in fear big-time. Only the losers spit venom. Never heard Q! spit venom. Must be a winner. Disruption of not only their (GSM) technology, but as well the entire genealogical tree of monopolistic control, from manufacturer to service provider to investment houses to news media....yep, all crawled out from under the same rock.
They are all spitting venom to a greater or lesser degree, and Q! continues to withhold the negativity. Bravo....
