Could we be moving to a world with three or more Super Powers? And if so, will there be peace? As China moves out of their 'dark ages', they become more and more powerful. . . .and due to their strong dislike of everything American, [despite our giving them "favored nation" status], they increasingly become a threat to the status quo security we've enjoyed most of our lives. Their aggressive expansion into Africa is cause for concern. But who knows what their next move will be? And considering the number of countries that would choose to align themselves with ANYONE BUT the U.S., the face of the political world could quickly change. But that is China. When considering an alliance of various degrees between Germany, Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine. . . .a new group of concerns arise. Lots of Nukes. . . Plenty of technology. . . . A potential pan-slavic unity. All they need is a strong financial base and they could be more powerful than the U.S.S.R. ever was. The new millenium may have a whole new set of political power concerns. And that worries me far more than the Nasdaq, interest rates or the [negative vs. positive] wealth effect. Could it be that America's REAL problem is complacency, selfish excess, glutony and decadence? And if we were faced with a serious threat to our national security by a foreign entity. Would we rise to meet the challenge? Or would we be too caught up in our own selfish worlds of entertainment, luxury and comfort to bother? I pray that we never see war again in our lives. But at the same time, I wouldn't hide my head in the sand. The dynamics of the world are rapidly changing before our eyes. Rande Is
