China's Central Bank Prohibits Preparation for Gold Exchanges
Tuesday, January 2 11:51 AM SGT
BEIJING, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - A spokesman of the People's Bank of China recently announced that without approval of the State Council and the People's Bank of China, no units and organizations are allowed to prepare for opening gold exchange markets. He stressed that all kinds of on-line transactions and preparation activities must stop immediately.
The spokesman said that reform of the gold management system is an inexorable trend in the development of socialist market economy. But as the reform touches upon gold production, distribution, management, reserve and taxation, ample preparations are needed. Before any official reform plan and new management policy are published, gold production, distribution and consumption must be carried out strictly in line with the !0Rules of the People's Republic of China on Management of Gold and Silver!1 and other regulations related.
