China keeps mum on timetable to issue overseas futures licenses
Hong Kong--Jan. 2--China Securities and Regulatory Commission, continues to
be mum on the timetable to issue the first license for overseas commodities
futures trading which is part of the country's security laws that were
effective in September 1999. CSRC is believed to have finalized the list of
companies that will be given the license, and China National Metals and
Minerals Import and Export Corp. (Minmetals) is the only metal firm in the
list, sources in Beijing said Tuesday.
