I gave up smoking about 4 years ago. Since about 15, I was a chain smoker, or close to it. I mostly smoked Camel straights. Then, I decided to cut down. For a couple of years, I smoked about a pack and a half, down from 4 packs a day. Finally, I quit, and have never relapsed. My grandmother was a mild alcoholic, and she stopped when medically advised. She broke down and had a drink on a couple of occasions, but never resumed on a daily basis. I have had friends who stopped heavy marijuana and hashish use without benefit of programs. The idea that Bush should have stopped drinking and stuck to it is not so strange to me.........
