Mary, like they say in sports, you can't fire all the players, so you fire the coach. Well, I think coach Greenspan has us down about 42 - 0 (or, what was that Notre Dame score?) right now.

AG has/will struck a deal with bush. Lower rates plus a moderated tax cut whose first phase offers end of marriage penalty, symbolic lower rates at top and higher threshold for poor plus death tax moderate reform. Of course he needs to lower rates 1/2 point now. Whole world economy on the line and that means world peace as well. AG has not lost it, only has made a mistake compounded by december inaction. He is getting the white horse saddled up as we speak.

30 yr rates will be below 5% shortly, imo. NAPM today was disasterous in terms of manuf. activity, new orders...If service sector also suddenly slows down, watch out! < 5% may come sooner than later with unemployment report this Friday, which should be bad. Soft landing??? It's already been a hard landing for most stockholders and companies. Greenspan behind the curve, imo.
