I would expect some short covering the last 20 minutes of the market day. The close isn't really that important. Fundamentals are driving the market now and for the next month or three. There are a whole lot of earnings warnings and downgrades coming. I can't believe we have seen the bottom yet.

Was 2288 the previous trough? If it was then a drop below 2288 would create a LOWER LOW and imply that the downtrend is still intacted.
