I just can't see a obvious bottom happening unless we get
something really bad news of some sort.

Perhaps diminutive green men landing pink elephants on the white house lawn would do it....

I agree with you Greg, in a half-pregnant kind of way (my wife is pregnant now, hence the propensity for such analogies)..

I am actually looking for some sort of good (intermediate) trading bottom...getting sick of 1-2 day rallies where I can't even go to the store without missing the turn back down....I am hoping that a bad, bad fearful (heavy volume) open tomorrow- a break of 2k would be nice- that may give us a 1-2 WEEK rally vs. just days...we'll see...

The real bottom? Well, I've read your thoughts, and agree it will take a while...classically, technical analysis tells us that we need to chop around, fail on some rallies, be dead money for a while (for a good, real bottom)...that makes sense to me.....I expect- as you've written, that the 2nd half of the year will be seeing a more sustainable uptrend.

A lot of big blocks going off today, but volume was not that heavy on the QQQs, nor the Naz....hmmm...
