yep...everybody forgets that there's no law demanding this cash be 'put to work in the market', especially not when same is going down. don't know if you've followed contraryinvestor much, but they pointed out last year that many non-mufu institutions, like pension funds and insurers, had arrived at equity allocations in their portfolios that were stretching the bounds of prudence, and in some cases likely those of fiduciary duty. so i suppose the thirst for equities from those quarters isn't what it used to be, another source of demand you can strike from the proceedings.
