chic, I have to hand it to you...you are a fast study. :-)

AG may have very well lost control. Remember Japan went to 0% apr and it did not help. It is a mental thing and people will not borrow money if they think they cannot pay it back (for the most part) and ANY interest rate.

Given the breadth of sales to foreign countries, I don't believe things will get as desperate as you predict. Greenspan screwed the pooch, but I think he'll get canned if he doesn't get things started. Bush may strike some as a country bumpkin, like the media portrays him, but I know some country bumpkins who are pretty shrewd without letting others know.knc
