Do you remember the discussion on this forum a year or so ago about the relative merits of QCOM mounting an awareness campaign similar to the Intel Inside campaign? I still think it would be hard to cost justify, but there are times that I wish they could get across the message that all these high performance standard have "CDMA Inside" ... maybe that would get us past some of the effort to build awareness for acronym number 995 as a way of playing down CDMA!

Yesterday, CNBC had advise to "New Investors." Around 1 or 2 o'clock in the afternoon they had a women investment analyst (I don't remember her name), who took calls from the public. One of the questions was "how do I know when to get out of a stock? I have a few dogs that I want to sell but I don't know if I should wait for them to go back up or not."

The advise given to a national audience was something along these lines of: "If you have winners and losers, I would sell your losers and some of your winners, and then buy back the winners right away."

Now my questions are:
1. What happened to the "wash rule?"
2. Even giving the analyst the benefit of the doubt, and saying that to her "after 30 days" is "right away," what exact advantage is obtained by selling your winners and then buying them back? Why not just sell the losers?
