MzPoetMam .....

earlier today I promised to send you the fixins for the meal that the folks are eating at MzNemer's office today ...
but
instead of pm reply, decided to post that recipe for Taco Soup over here on the NutThread ....
as I feel sure that "some" will try it and enjoy it as much as do I ......

now this is a PRECISE MEASUREMENT ONLY type of dealie .....
no subs or alterations allowed ...... ROFL ....

for the amount that this makes, one MUST share with friends as there is more than most families can consume ...
but in keeping with my lifestyle and outlook ... it is CHEAP and EASY to make .....

here we go ....

dice 3 large onions and sear over high heat in a skillet with a dollop of oliveoil for about as long as it takes to say 10 HailMarys and 1 OurFather ...
then toss in 5lbs of groundbeef OR 5lbs *(my preference) of chunked up roast and brown, again over HIGH heat, for however long feels good to you .... (I like the meat to have a slight crust)

that is ALL the advance prep work that needs to be done *(as this stuff will keep in the ref for couple or three days it can be done ahead of time) ...

somewhere in the vicinity of an hour before you're ready to eat ......

get a large pot and dump in the following ....

2 cans each *( as this is a precision formula a can is defined as a #303 and for those Piffers who have NO idea what is a 303er ... somewhere between 400 and 450 grams is close enuff) ///
but I digress ...

TWO (2) cans each of
green beans
corn
english peas
hominy
carrots
blackeyed peas

pinto beans or navy beans or kidney beans or whatthehellEVEReverkindofbeansyouwant

Rotel brand tomatoes

THREE (3) cans
Tomatoes

don't drain any of the cans ==== USE ALL the liquids ....

Two (2) packets of Taco Seasoning .... I prefer Williams brand but whatever kind is available for you ... but Williams is an excellent one in anything they put out ... all their stuff comes in a black foil pouch and is GOOD ...

now here is where the cook *(dumper/chunker/canopenerperson) is allowed to depart from these EXACT measurements

I use 3or4 smidgens of diced garlic and a small can of diced green chilies and a couple of diced fresh japelenos or a couple or three of preserved ones and seven or eleven dashes of tabasco brand hot sauce ......

if one doesn't like it HOT ...
don't do what I do ...
for example, in the meal the schoolies are gonna consume today, didn't use ANY of the hot stuff listed at the end ...
and for my family , I use only the garlic ...
but for hunting camp types ..... ALL the hot and maybe more .....

now to finish up and get the mixture ready to serve
bring all the ingredients to a boil and reduce to a slow simmer for ten minutes or so ....

if you like it thinner ...
add tomato juice OR tomato soup
if you like it thicker
add cornstarch *(important to disolve the cornstarch in water BEFORE adding to the soup)

oh yeah ...
as there is always some thing in the list that some folks DON'T like ....
heck, just leave it out ...
as several folks I know leave out the hominy ...
and
you can add anything you like ...

but remember ...
be precise ....
and add salt and pepper to taste
after
it is heated

thass it, folks ....

try it, you'll like it
and
it is cheap and easy ...
and
GREAT eating ......
