"If the Nasdaq were to fall 1000 points in 1 day there is nothing Greenspan could do anyway." On the contrary -- there is a lot AG could and would do. He could inject $100 billion dollars into the market if he so chooses, and he could do it all at once. To be sure, he pumped $10 billion into the system in the last few days to slow the fall -- but not reverse it.
