Hopefully we will get the pleasure more often in the future. I understand your feelings about moderated threads. I think most folks were not glad that we had to go that route. However, I submit that there was little choice in the matter if the porch was to remain the community it was intended to be. Unfortunately, there are too many people who like to abuse their 1st Amendment rights to the detriment of others rights. I firmly believe that leaving the porch the way it was would have destroyed it..... sure the thread would still be there..... but the abusers would be running it..... and the folks who truly comprised the porch would be gone. Look at those who come here & hurl insults, lies & personal attacks, etc., then run to other threads claiming they were moderated for merely having a different POV. If we let every one of these people continue post freely, what would this thread become? I submit it would be no different than most YAHOO stock threads...... a pile of trash that must be waded through for a few nuggets...... IOW, not worth the effort of bothering for most folks. A moderated thread can appear to be oppressive.... or to protect & insulate opposing POV's from being heard..... I submit that in this case it became a necessary evil to keep unreasonable people from ruining a wonderful community..... where folks want to maintain reasonable standards..... while they debate, disagree, discuss & share a diverse collection of thoughts...... in a civil manner. I see you still read this thread. I hope you can see that although it is moderated, it retains the essential elements of the porch prior to being moderated..... we just take action when someone does not or cannot refrain from personal attacks and act in a civil manner..... besides..... they are free to post any BS they want elsewhere on the internet. JMHO Regards, Ö¿Ö Tim2
