Actually, I find it galling. It seems that the only branch of gov't they want to build up is the military.....and they are fervent about it.

Most conservatives want to increase military spending far less the liberals want to increase social spending (if they want to increase military spending at all). Even if Bush gets his way 100% on the budget social spending will increase more then military spending. I think I'm more conservative then Bush but I don't propose any enormous military spending increases either. I would probably not be supporting any increases if it wasn't for the large cuts the defense budget has had over the last several years.
