A couple of observations:

Re: Smartmedia - Michael, I don't think the excess smartmedia was due to fewer design-ins. All the anecdotal evidence I've seen says that smartmedia is outselling CF by a considerable margin. It appears that the mp3 craze is driving it. The shelf you saw probably represents a more recent/extra shipment or the remains of a much larger shipment (compared to the other storage media), IMO.

Concert - limtex, seems to me that though the Intel product offers a modest price advantage over buying an mp3 unit and a 128mb CF card, the big downside is you're tied into obsolescence. One of the key points of removable memory is that you can use it on the next device you buy as well. With on-board memory, you're stuck, and that memory will undoubtedlly hit the trash heap long before a CF/smartmedia card would (especially at these prices)
