>>Why do you seek to perpetuate the competition at the federal trough?

Your inference is counter-intuitive. Obviously, by opposing Lieberman and Dodd, I implied the opposite.

I use those two Liberal Dems to highlight how detrimental it is for states like Connecticut to elect Liberal Dems who habitually vote to expand the Federal government and increase taxes, transferring wealth away from their constituents to those of other states.

The remedy is not as you assert, more "competition at the federal trough". The remedy is reducing or removing the trough as much as possible. Lieberman and Dodd do precisely the opposite, as committed Liberal Dems they vote to expand the trough as much as possible - not to help Connecticut, but to secure election with the Dem base in Connecticut that benefits from the government taxation and spending that they promote - a scheme right out FDR's playbook. Consequently Lieberman and Dodd care little that their votes harm Connecticut in the aggregate.
