I haven't really looked into the HomeRF stuff, but it doesn't make sense to me to open up the last mile bottleneck and then move the bottleneck to the last 50 feet.

It looks like their APs are using frequency hopping (FHSS), which I consider to be more limited than direct sequence (DSSS). So I would say that Proxim is a bit behind the curve to start with.
