saukriver,

<< I don't see a business case for Metricom at all and absolutely no king or gorilla potential. It is a localized wireless ISP >>

I agree.

Good comments and the fact that you are a user adds an important perspective.

I have investigated (using) Metricom twice. Once last spring when I decided to use a 14,4 kbps phone as Palm Vx modem (and occasionally a laptop modem) and then again about a month ago when I decided that from a price/availability point of view I'd wait for 1xRTT and eventually HDR.

Right now it appears that Sprint PCS's Bluekite enabled corporate user plan (with effective throughput comparable to V.90) blows Metricon out of the water.

I have never considered Metricon as an investment. One quick glance at the fundamentals tells anyone that this is not a company that needs to have attention paid to it on this thread.

With a market cap of under $300 million, revenues under $25 million, and no immediate signs of profitability, this interesting company should be discussed elsewhere.

As for hedging the gorilla Qualcomm, I am already doing it with King Nokia.
