W seems to be quite taken with tokenism, though it mostly seems to be of the Clarence Thomas "best man for the job" variety. Conservative orthodoxy can cover a multitude of shortcomings.

I don't know about W's energy secretary, though with acting President elect Cheney organizing things, I'm sure it's a good choice for the oil patch. I am quite pleased with "W"'s choice for HHS, though. Wisconsin's governor for life has had his term tragically cut short, and maybe Thompson's patronage machine will be dismantled in a few years. Tommy's graciously allowed his titular wife to stay home, too, as he did during his local reign. Poor Tommy, allegedly the job he really wanted was Transportation, but that one was reserved for a token Democrat. Apparently "W" didn't see the patronage opportunities there that Tommy did.

Cheers, Dan.
