<ot>Hi all - most of the people in the US, your truly included <g>, don't quite realize how little we pay for the gasoline for the longest time. Even our Canadian friends just north of the border, a major oil patch country, has to pay serious $. But of course, auto and America are so closely associated with each other, it is a necessity, psychologically, if not functionally. That's why people cried bloody murder when the govt wanted to increase gas tax by a few pennes! In SE Asia, many countries see auto as a luxury. Very often 100% sale tax is applied. Still, decades ago, HK boosted the most Rose Royce [sp?] per capita! When we had our 1st oil crisis back in the 70s, people were complaining about the room temperature. Only the foreign born thought it was normal to keep the room temperatire below 70 degrees F <VBG>!

Speaking of auto, the #s should be coming out soon. Any inventory buildup and/or substantial decline in sale may push people closer in believing the 'R' word is not out of the realm of possibility!

best, Bosco

Kim, i am sorry, but i am merely an Ugly American... it is even difficult for me to include the U.K. in my Geopolitical map <g> as for fjords and loong distances- well, that is too much of a stretch! <g>

it appears we must all suffer our fuel price whippings in accordance with how sternly our respective govs. are prepared to met them out!
