That was what yesterday was all about. Deferring taxes for a year by taking capital gains at the beginning rather than at the end.

I think this is what happened also.

I suspect a partial correction, some settling, and then the bear to resume the grind. We might even be in for a bear rally which might look like the run of the bulls again. Strap on your seat-belt. Bear markets are terrible places for "investing".

At this point, I don't think a sustainable bear rally is possible until we have some sort of capitulation. 5 BILLION share day on the Naz would convince me. We must be getting very close. This MAY give a us a few month rally, but we'll see.

I firmly believe that this market CANNOT bottom until the drunken speculation has been wiped out. It's clear everywhere, there's just too much speculative money in the market and it just seems to rotate and catch what's hot. Numerous examples of this in many different sectors. This rinse and repeat cycle (capitulation) will have to be run over and over IMO.
