OT> RE: Fibromyalgia. I am not a health professional, but I have studied it in depth. I am willing to bet that you had a severe accident to your spine at some time in your life [all the way back to birth]. And your symptoms flare up at times when you either work out, lift heavy objects, or use your back more than you normally would. . .likewise, you can get a flare up when there is considerable stress in your life. Perhaps the most important part of your regimen to relieve symptoms is getting maximum relief on the spinal cord. Stop the heavy physical exertion. Get someone else to do it! Use the jacuzzi with regularity. . . even hot showers, where you let the water run down your spine for 10 minutes followed by 10 minutes of cold packs. Some have good results with chiropractors, others with physical therapists, still others with acupuncture. . . whatever relieves the stress in your spine.

Modern medicine merely treats the symptoms, IMO. The sleep aid/muscle relaxant, the anti-depressant to counter the sleep aid . . .all deal with the traditional view of Fibromyalgia being a sleep disorder which keeps your muscles from getting needed rest. But it starts with the stress on your old [or new] spinal injury.

In my opinion, it is NOT in your head. It is not a "syndrome" as it is called. It is a REAL illness, often debilitating, and is caused by a PHYSICAL condition.

NOTE: I don't mean to get into an argument with health professionals over this. I recognize that there are many schools of thought regarding this and other conditions. . . and again, I am not a professional in the health care field . . and everything above is strictly my opinion. . . . if you are sick, see a doctor!!

Hope that helps some, Sharck.
