Sadly, the fundamentals on CSCO has changed, dramatically.

There has been detailed explanation as to how CSCO pumps up its cash flow and bottomline growth by employee stock options, investment growth, blah, blah. CSCO will have a very hard time reporting larger and larger investment gains in quarter report when the snowball gets bigger and bigger. Secondly, CSCO will have to raise employee salaries (LU just raised its employee salary by 10% recently while planning to cut work force by 10%) when the stock option is worth nothing more than toilet paper. Will that supress great CSCO's bottom line growth? I think so.

I don't think it's necessary for me to detail how bad the IT spending is for corporates. Think mighty CSCO will be immune to this scenario? You bet.

Peppe - you are right. But I don't think we'll bottom until we hear the bulls groan and bail.

At least, that would be conventional wisdom. This market has turned goofy and everything conventional gets thrown out the window.

In the last two months we have seen CSCO swing through more 5% days than in the last 5 years put together. Obscene. Something is very much out of control and I don't feel confident predicting one way or another right now.

Last year I felt confident enough to invest based on my convictions. Right now, I'm watching the carnage from my bunker and I gotta say it looks mighty tempting to stay in here. I know that's a mistake long term... just every time I think about going back outside blammo, another bomb drops.

My key time posts are Jan 16 and April 16 for re-evaluation.

John.
