That's a narrow-minded view of how democracy works in the context of our Constitutional system of government. Do you know why the Electoral College exists? Do you think it should be abolished? If so, why? What is the downside, if any?

Have you ever heard of mob rule? Do you honestly believe that we don't occaisionally need protection from, yes, even the "voting" masses? The voting masses routinely trample on the rights of women, ethnic and religious minorities, the unborn, and others. I think a three-tiered approach to government, under a constitution is a brilliant solution and one that has served us well. Well, that is until last month. We don't have that many alternatives, monarchy, dictatorship, oligarchy, and anarchy come immediately to mind. I'll chose a representative democracy that occaisionally elects the wrong man over any of the aforementioned alternatives any day.
