Hey Slider, I bought 29,000 smop warrants today for $.51 What's your point?

That fed cut hit the portfolio almost immediately. Couldn't even change my GTC tech buys.

edit: DAMN! My techs are going nuts! I'd hate to be short and out at lunch right now!

>> JimL; XTO -13%, RRC -10%, ROIL - 10%, DNR - 7% CHK CRK EPEX FST KP MHR PXD ... all thread fav's. <<

Those pullbacks are laughable compared to how much each of those stocks are up in the last 3-12 months.

XTO up 400%, RRC up 300%, ROIL up 200%+, DNR up 150%, CHK up 400%, EPEX up 400%, FST up 100%, KP up 500%, MHR up 300%, PXD up 100%...

I picked the lows in most cases vs a holding period because it represents the money that could have been made. Most of us are traders anyway. But buying and holding would have been equally good in most cases.

Personally I'm little mad at myself that I didn't hold XTO, CHK and EPEX longer. I settled for doubles.

I'd say those that kept the faith over the last year are up SIGNIFICANTLY. Now you can give them a D- going FORWARD if they stay on Max Margin and if they're wrong, but so far the jury is still out. Kudos to those that kept the faith over the last 6 months.

Now don't get me wrong I agree with 80% of what you're saying going forward. If I had those kind of profits I'd be booking them. I would not be on margin here (with anything). Nor would I have more than 50% invested in energy even with it's fundamentals. I agree money can be made shorting, but given these fundamentals I would rather short elsewhere. I don't like to short much anyway.

FWIW I sold some of my gold plays and raised more cash. With Greenspan cutting I don't see gold breaking out in a major way near term. Kept my HM calls as it's a cheap way to play any breakout.

Slider....

Need to publicly let you know that I had been waffling about selling my final 1/3rd of RRC ( the stuff I got for 1 15/16)

Wait for the LT tax right off or sell and run? I knew I would wait at least 'till the 1st. Your post re-inforced my belief that "if I am thinking this, so is everyone else".

It rallied yesterday to 7 bucks, and I led the charge down, selling 3000 shares at 6 15/16.

Last I looked it was down a full point, around 6.

Your post was the final push that helped me decide to sell.

And, today, down $3,000 in "paper profits" with the real money...in my cash drawer!

thanks....

Cosmo
