I think many of the shorts covered before the December shorts report, I recall a nice 10% up day just before Christmas, which was probably a short covering into the holidays.

My understanding is that the short interest report is merely a snapshot at the end of the month, not an indication of how many shares were sold short during the month. Anyone else have any insight into this?
