Here's an interesting call I picked up from Briefing. Anyone have a clue how the guy would pick these particular stocks? Or, have they just upgraded (not downgraded?) them recently?

14:21 ET Salomon List : Salomon Smith Barney analyst Alex Henderson gives his list of stocks the analyst expects to benefit in a declining interest rate environment. In data networking, analyst likes Cisco (CSCO +6 11/16) and Extreme (EXTR +12 1/2). In the optical equipment space, positive on Nortel (NT +3 11/16), Ciena (CIEN +15) and ONI Systems (ONIS +1 11/16).

Thanks Gary.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day. I predicted this would happen at the december meeting too. Do you think Bams, monty, and chick had a good day today. They were all admittedly short this morning. I was in a meeting when Big Al struck but I take it we got to +250 pretty quick. The second part of my prediction was just posted on the amat thread. I reprinted it below. AMAT should be owned just because of the quality of the its posters unlike the s..t serious folks put up with here. Bulls argue with bears about fundamentals and ta without rancor. Take a peek sometime.

Richard,
The fix is in. Its like baseball. Bush traded the big tax cut for the half pointer and a non-gore targeted tax
cut which includes modest across the board rate cuts, marriage penalty relief, death tax relief and raising of the income threshold for the working poor. This will insure continued surplus' to pay down the debt and continued prosperity. General tax reform will be tackled later on. It will be a good deal for investors. Mike

PS Many analysts predicted nasdaq would trade in a narrow 10% range this year. That thinking is gone in one day.
Where were the analysts who realized what a rate cut would do for tech. Nowhere, they still were causing the selling this AM. We are truly on our own.
