Given that he knows GWB is going to cut taxes and he just slashed rates, I'd say he does not have too much of a problem with it.

The situation is different now.

Are you fool enough to think that spending would not have sky rocketed under clinton/gore if they had a different congress?

<ANYONE on the thread BELIEVE that AG does not OPPOSE Bushy's tax cut plan? <

You won't get a serious response from any of the CHENEY/bush supporters on this board. Yesterday, numerous folks on here wouldn't even admit that economies are all about "confidence".

Today's action speaks very loudly about AG's fear of CHENEY/bush's approach to the economy. It is VERY unusual to see the Fed cut rates in between meetings. They usually fear it will be taken as a sign of panic.

But, obviously the Fed gov's and AG felt that CHENEY/bush's strategy of talking the economy into a recession was too dangerous to let stand. Moreover, they understand that a broad based tax cut will INCREASE inflation pressures, which they want to head off.

Today's action should restore some confidence to the markets and lower the pressure on Congress to enact a counter-productive tax strategy.

AG knows that George II can be led around by the nose and hopes to make that less likely.
