Charles,

Here is a definition of CLEC from internet.com.

webopedia.internet.com

Basically they are resellers of bandwidth as mandated by law. The numbers exploded and the networking companies sold tons of gear and now the CLEC are going bankrupt and disappearing. Leaving the Telecom equipment suppliers holding the bag. I would imagine the CLECs were big purchasers of SUNW gear. Now the however, this problem may be way overblown and no one knows what the ramifications are. Other than the telecom equipment sector has been whacked. This was another of the now infamous "Barron's" sell offs. Remember the dot.bomb article?
