I am not sure right wingers lack the ability to read people, I just don't believe they have developed the ability they have because they don't set that skill as a priority. most of the people I know in the helping professions are liberal. Teachers, nurses, social workers- their priority is people, not capital. When your priority is people it is natural to gravitate toward the liberal side of the political spectrum.

I wish liberals did more to live up to their reputation for caring about people. I would like to see a renewal of faith in liberalism. Because some of the battles the left fought, have been won- resoundingly.

"Right-wingers" are rather ignorant, IMO, in the ability to read the human emotional fabric.

Mainly cuz they ain't interested in any others besides themselves.

Comments, anyone?

Not true. Right wingers tend to go with the traditional approach of taking a person at their word...until the person gives some indication that there word does not mean what they say it does... ministering to a troubled youth=gettin off on an intern, for example.

The left wing liberal, up the establisment style person tends to lean more toward finding deeper meaning by redefining words like "is" and "sexual relations" so that we are not limited by standards and labels and such in our daily communications. A deck of Tarrot cards or tea leaves might also be employed to pursuade others that you have a grasp of things than can not be derived by the non-mistic. Of course a right winger would probably just say its all con-man stuff. What...you say you're one of them? Ok

Hi Bonnie,

I know I'm coming in late to this discussion, but I just wanted to let you know that the "idiot" named bp is a friend of mine, a very smart and kind woman whose political viewpoints are very different than ours. She may hold political viewpoints that are offensive to you, but she's no idiot, believe me. :)

I like your question about whether left-leaning people are better able to "read" people than right-leaning people. Personally, I don't think so. In general I find women much better equipped to deal with other people's emotions and thoughts, but I know an awful lot of politically conservative women....which astounds me, frankly.

Yes liberals do read people with amazing skill, I for example am an extreme liberal in favour of all life from the moment it starts. Many years ago I heard Bill Clinton say he had smoked pot but had not inhaled and I knew this was a person who could lie to himself with ease and thus had little if any concept of honesty. We liberals don't give a hoot about Bill's sex life but ain't it amusing how Bill is so stiff about talking about it straight. I remember seeing Al plant a desperate kiss on his wife and from that point instead of just not liking the mans programs to conserve the dependence of minorities on government handouts robbing them of the hope of liberal free market achievement to a feeling I was really afraid that this guys life was being president for the sake of what I don't know and that really scared me. The slander of Repubican's repeating publicly charges for the entire nation to hear how Republican application were given special treatment and Democrat application were thrown away. This when all sworn statements indicated that nothing like this had happened was no surprise to me as Al and Bill were word smiths of a feather and flocked together.

Yes Liberals, especially liberal WaCkY MarKEtZoiD En-Gin_EaR EXTRODINAIRUS of the official Silicon investor feather do a fair job of reading the soul.
