Panic short covering and momentum buying of quality companies to catch the updraft.
The 4-5 fold increase in natural gas is playing havoc in certian industrial markets. Certian industrial businesses in the USA are screwed. Am investigating APD as a potential short here.

I actually benefited from this in a weird way... I had (foolishly) left an open short order on RIMM @ 56 while I went to lunch... came back fearing the worst, found it had filled @ 63! What a strange market.

I had some difficulties in buying in, when I noticed that the auto routing features of the bs brokers did not rout orders into crossed markets
