I don't think so. AG has publicly stated he prefers tax cuts to government spending. He has also said his first preference is elimination of the capital gains tax and if not an elimination, a significant reduction.

He and GW weren't discussing the weather 10 days ago when they met. AG will not oppose GW's tax cut. Also, with Gephardt now publicly saying we need a tax cut, the tax-cut train is leaving the station. The Dems will want to be on board so they can tell their constituents they gave them some of their money back. The Dems will fight the across-the-board cut that GW wants, but I think he will get most of what he wants.

A very hard economic landing, if not a recession, is already baked in the cake for the first half of 2001. Interest rate cuts will help the second half, but the first half is already beyond repair. Bush will get most of his tax cuts... the question is how soon will they kick in.

When AG began to see Bushy's tax cut gaining some momentum, he launched what the gun-totters here can probably best relate to...
"A pre-emptive attack."

Um, guess again.
