To: Merlin1968 who wrote (837 ) 1/5/2001 9:27:31 AM From: Carpe per Diem Read Replies (1) | Respond to of 1177 Bombardier Awarded Contracts in Belgium and Germany MONTREAL, QUEBEC--Bombardier Transportation has been awarded contracts in Europe for approximately Cdn$34.5 million (25.7 million Euro) Germany Bombardier Transportation and its consortium partner Kiepe Elektrik of DÂsseldorf were awarded an order from the transport authority of Bonn (SWB) for the supply of 15 high-floor City-Trams. The contract is valued at approximately Cdn$26 million (19.5 million Euro) for Bombardier Transportation. The delivery of the 15 City-Trams is to be completed by October 2003. Vehicle assembly, system integration, and testing will be done at the Bombardier Transportation plant in Aachen, Germany, while its Vienna, Austria, plant will manufacture the modules. Kiepe Elektrik will be responsible for the electrical portion of the contract. Belgium Bombardier Transportation has received an order for the delivery of 10 low-floor intermediate cars from the Belgian Transport Company (Vlaamse Vervoermaatschappij) De Lijn for the Belgian Coast tram. These cars will be delivered and will enter service by the summer of 2002. De Lijn has a need for 32 of these intermediate cars and will order two further batches of 11 cars each in 2001 and 2002. The intermediate cars will be built at Bombardier Transportation's plant in Bruges. The steering cabs of the existing trams will be equipped with an air-conditioning system at the same time. The actual order has a value of Cdn$8.5 million (6.2 million Euro) and will reach Cdn$27 million (19.8 million Euro) when all of the orders are placed.
