I have no respect for Cramer. I remember him on TV in early March pushing all the high flyers - at triple where they are now.

I don't mean to be defending him but he is going with the pulse of the market. He just knew when to pull out. He let his readers know as well.

In the same way, if optical companies really blow away numbers and/or forecast a good outlook, he could possibly change his mind.
He has been consistent for months in saying that high fliers had to be avoided. I read his comments and find nothing suspicious.

A few days ago, I thought JDSU/JNPR/PMCS were not good trades long (and felt only finanicals were to be owned) but in the last couple of days I thought they were must owns. People can change their minds if they trade actively.

Mutual fund managers have to take a long term approach (unlike traders or hedge funds). Now, as an investor, he is taking a risk/reward approach to investing. Nothing wrong with that.

I just think his optical and communication chip call is wrong but if he is able to make money on financials...there is nothing wrong with that either. If there were no skeptics about optical/communication chips, the sector would go nowhere. With a certain amount of negative commentary out there, there is every chance for these stocks to rally big. Anyone who checks the increase in short interest on these stocks will a bullish picture.

BTW--I know his fund did nothing even close to what I was able to in 1998 and 1999...not even in the same ballpark. In 2000...he was great. I still think he provides a good pulse of the market and one can use him as a contrarian indicator as well but any kind of conspiracy theory talk is silly,IMHO. I used his recommendations on financials when the rate cut talk started. People like him are useful as they have seen many trading cycles---I have certainly learned a lot about this from his commentary.
