Decisions, decisions, decisions ...

I was very happy to hear about the rate cuts, but I agree that "the message" is mixed. Overall, IMO it is very positive...but our economy certainly has some "hurdles" to overcome. I'd love to see more rate cuts as well as tax cuts in the future.

Congratulations on your new board!

Want to hear something strange?
I am not kidding about this.

Sheila and I were watching the Christmas videos that I took at her mothers house during Christmas.
Something very strange appeared on the videos.
Bubbles. No body in the house was blowing any bubbles or anything but the screen has a bunch of bubbles floating in the air for about 2 minutes.

This is really weird.

Your post made me think to check the last time the Fed cut suddenly. The SPX had made a significant Low only the week before, and then started a 9 plus month run higher. I do not recall the spin behind that cut, however.

In other words, this cut seems designed to prevent or ameliorate a recessionary environment. That sudden cut in 1998, which was followed by another quarter point the following November 17th, may have been for other reasons.

I think it is fair to think that the near few months may be very bullish. In which case, Techs do usually lead out of a decline.

I must say though, as time goes on my portfolio is going to get more Treasuries in it. This last death spiral was too foreboding. Fortunately for me, my kids are getting to the point that planning for their future is no longer an issue. So safety is more of an issue than risk/reward.
