I see the same desired level of extremeness. I just happen to like the left leaning extremeness. And I am closer to having my extremeness than the right is- imo. For example, I live in a country where no religion can be pushed by the state. This makes conservatives (espcially conservative Christians) very unhappy. Now you can understand how a religious zealot might think it is a horrible extreme that they cannot push there zealotous program through the public schools. Why this hypothetical zealot is SURE that children would benefit from exposure to his religion. And I am sure he thinks it is terribly extreme that he cannot do this- and in some sense, I suppose it is. I just happen to think the separation of church and state is a rational extreme. I LIKE it.

I can give many other examples of similar extremes. They do not seem extreme to us- because our point of view seems reasonable and rational, but I have come to realize that compared to liberals and conservatives Mars and Venus are twins. Liberals and conservatives are like Mercury and Pluto.
