Internet Commerce Corporation Outlines Path to Profitability
Company Anticipates Cash Flow Breakeven By Year End 2001

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 2001--Internet Commerce Corporation (``ICC'') (Nasdaq: ICCA - news), a full-service provider in all aspects of e-commerce trading community development and Internet data exchange, today announced that the Company intends to achieve cash flow breakeven by calendar year end 2001. The cash flow improvement is due in large part to record growth in data transmissions, a substantial ramp-up in international customers, cost savings to be generated from the integration of Research Triangle Commerce, Inc. (RTCI) and subsequent streamlining of the combined companies.

In November 2000, ICC announced the completion of its acquisition of RTCI, which will generate significant operating efficiencies and economies of scale. Additionally, the Company will continue to grow its market share and customer base by placing a greater focus on strategic partnerships, both domestic and international, to augment its existing sales operations. This strategy will not only open new markets, but will also result in a more efficient use of traditional marketing and advertising expenditures.

Dr. Geoffrey S. Carroll, President and Chief Executive Officer of ICC, stated, ``As evidenced by a five-fold increase in transmission volume through our system over the past year, our network demand continues to grow. Given our strong customer pipeline, we expect to continue witnessing record levels of transmission volume. Importantly, by streamlining the Company's infrastructure, we have created a leaner and more efficient organization, which will deliver significant value to our customers and our shareholders. Furthermore, based on current plans and projections, it is our intent to achieve cash flow breakeven by the end of this calendar year. We are confident in our ability to achieve these targets while aggressively expanding our market share. Overall, our market segment, Internet infrastructure, remains a high growth segment and we remain well-positioned to capitalize on this opportunity.''
