flyboy, Look, no disrespect intended, but we have been down this road with other visitors many, many times. The methods used to measure productivity are so bogus that the productivity argument no longer makes sense.

Yes, a steam-shovel represents higher productivity, but a Pentiuim III does not make me 3 times more productive than a pentium Pro.

The myth of productivity since 1995 or so is based on the twisted notion of an hedonic deflator. This bizarre methodology has been exposed and critisized by economists and bankers far more learned in the field than we will ever be.

It's a particularly American/BLS style of mathematics.
