Only two more weeks to wait for earnings. While I don't expect a blowout, I do expect them to meet, and perhaps exceed by the traditional penny, current estimates.
According to
biz.yahoo.com
the consensus is for 16 cents/share, up from 10 cents for the same quarter last year. The latest Value Line I've seen estimates 14 cents. I think (hope) "whisper numbers" are a bit less aggressive, given the well publicized problems in the general economy.

Factors that might help:
boost in value of Euro and other currencies against dollar
continued growth of Internet
new products
backlog
improved parts availability
easier recruitment
competitive factors:
minimal acceptance of Windows 2000
delay in Itanium

Factors that might hinder:
general economic malaise
competitive pressure from refreshed IBM and HP lines

Just some thoughts to get us going. Comments, anyone?

JMHO, of course, and not investment advice.
