first of all, let me say that you seem to be pretty good at "guessing" and as I have previously indicated it appears you have out performed me...

however, re whipsaw, that is why I have moved to a scale system which buys and sells every move [> 1%] in the NDX.
so I have defined away whipsaw, AND I participate in very big move (by definition)

thing is, of course, I participate with MUCH smaller amounts of capital as I usually sell just one scale [3 scales max] at a time. of course, it does turn out that I can trade the same dollars over and over again for a period of time.

since I have been doing this method for just about two months, we really dont know how it will work yet - but I feel that I no longer have to be a good guesser, and yet the method is not 100% mechanical either (scale and trade size are always being evaluated)

whatever works I always say!

good luck to you too [of course]

Bob

Hi John, Your "stream of consciousness" ideas are interesting. No, I'm no soothsayer so have to depend upon having a plan in place to handle whatever happens.

In UOPIX, we had a new creature. It has turned out to be like keeping a Bengal Tiger as a pet! We thought we had a pussy cat, and we can all handle a few bites and scratches once in a while. However, even when a Tiger is just playing, it can damage us severely and rapidly.

AIM would have easily handled QQQ's drop for Y2K. It was the doubling up of daily drops that was beyond traditional AIM's abilities. With some adjustment made to compensate for the wildness of this beast, I think AIM will be able to tame this Tiger!

In the mean time, I'm content to take the yield from the account's bond fund and buy shares monthly until AIM gets started again. Should the bond fund rise and trigger an AIM sell of a few shares, those proceeds will immediately go to UOPIX as well. Eventually things will come back into some balance.

My possible AIM changes include increasing the Buy Resistance or SAFE value and changing the frequency of transactions on the Buy side. I'll be doing some simulations to see what I can do to contain the Burn Rate of the cash reserves in a market such as we've just had.

Best regards, Tom
