Well, in that case you need to use a % instead of a spread. Personally I never backtest for more than 2 years, as the neural nets I have run show no patternability beyond that for the types of stocks I trade.

When you do use the trading stuff, modify the parameters so you can set variables - that is similar to the way metastock uses optimization routines. Helps isolate better methods for specific stocks.
