There's a pretty interesting battle developing in the middleware arena lately among NEON, TIBX, BEAS, and IONA. Their software is essentially a real-time communications infrastructure that will eventually be a commodity like anything else. TIBX and BEAS seem especially vulnerable because of valuation. Regarding NEON, if you talk to engineers deploying the product, they feel that it is a pretty strong offering; of course, financial execution is a different matter. WS
