In 98 we faced the prospect of something much worse than a recession. LTCM was sitting on a bomb with trillions in leveraged bets gone sour and a meltdown of whole countries who had backed foolish investments with promises of sovereign backing for the debt -- we faced the bankruptcy of whole countries and disruptions in markets trading trillions of dollars in securities each day -- the currency markets. It was called a crisis because it was a crisis. We are not in any crisis that I know of -- just a bear market and a slow economy.

You may be right, but I am skeptical of tech for the next few months, although it will be a trader's paradise.

No need to rehash reasons for my skepticism, they are all over the media.

My only point is that these rate cuts are a necessary condition for a tech rally, but may not be sufficient.
